Bio
Once I was at Limelight for some reason, and there was a manic black man who was dancing like crazy. He turned towards a a girl standing still and said to her "You can't stand there; you gotta move!" She began to walk away with an embarrassed giggle-smile-hair-tuck, but the man interrupted her with "Not like that, you gotta MOVE YOUR ASS!"
I think everyone needs a miniature version of that man in her head.
I am a professional computer geek. I write software for a living, and have been destined to be a programmer since I first cracked a BASIC book at age 3 on my TI-99/4A. Java is my current weapon of choice, mostly by market necessity. I have also professionally wielded Perl, C++, C, VHDL, PHP, and XSLT.
In 8th grade I decided I liked techno music based on an Omni magazine article on cyberpunk counterculturists that featured a sidebar on Front 242, followed not long after by a Providence Journal review of a Front 242 performance. I had at the time not heard any techno, and my first exposure to anything remotely resembling techno was when I started listening repeatedly to my Mortal Kombat movie soundtrack. I signed up for the TVT catalog and started listening to Underworld based on their descriptions therein. This eventually led me to the Dirtylist and my overpriced record habit.

In the third grade, Matt Kane picked up the unfortunate nickname of "mad scientist". This has been his guiding principle ever since. His musical style is offbeat at times, lush and organic at others, and always inspired by technological signals and electronic machinery. A founding member of the EMA crew from southern Rhode Island, mkb invaded the Rhode Island airwaves for five years from his home base of WRIU 90.3 FM before moving to Salem and transferring to WZBC.
