no boobies though

edit:

the best part, though, was when he started.

the first thing he did was take apart the turntables and futz with a potentiometer so they could go faster! yeah!

More pretty girl pictures

There has been some discussion on the 313 mailing list about the third wave of djing.

For reference:
The first wave is the attention to the detail of which tracks go when. This lasted until the late 70s or so when the precedence of beatmatching overtook that of track selection, bringing the entry barrier higher and ushering in the second wave.

Now, with a few software tools such as Native Instruments' Traktor and Ableton's Live, DJs are able to digitize all their records and beatmatch instantaneously, giving anyone the near-godlike abilities of Derrick May or Richie Hawtin.

Of course, this is not without controversy. Some will say that this will not lead to more creative mixes, but more of the same (which is exactly what plenty of people think of Photoshop and even DJing and electornic music to begin with)

I have heard a few of this new type of mix. Richie Hawtin's DE9: Closer to the Edit is constructed in this fashion, as is Scion's Arrange and Process. Also, the following:
Carl Craig - the workout
daniel bell - from the button down mind of daniel bell
robert hood - caught in the act 2002
colin dale - excursions vol.3

and Kirk Digiorgio is coming out with a new one soon.
